The results of a competition policy sui generis, all freeze, tell us who will hold the fate of this city. If someone does not want to not consider the competition ended with the end of elections. I said that something has changed and this is the historical context of Italian, European, world. For anything away or remote from influences that may lead in our own city. But mention should be made to understand a new word that comes forward about a year. A word, a concept which is being presented within business environments and ends to entry in the social landscape and the public.

The new term “resilience”, “resilience” in Anglo-Saxon world. The term is now in use among the prerogatives that companies want to pursue more competitive and is often made between corporate objectives which conform. The resilience is translated by the less noticed, like robustness, in reality has nothing to do with this. The term derives from engineering mechanics and indicates the ability of a material to withstand external impulse. Apply in politics this term allows for new indications.

Fact does not escape anyone that the crisis in global markets, the euro’s recent crisis, the huge indebtedness of the Italian state, the various forms of federalism that are to be introduced and the depressed conditions of the Sicilian economy certainly will lead to a shortage of resources, clear and tangible. Local governments must, increasingly, self-sustaining economic activity, increasingly, the responsibility of the deficit and cutting services, responding to citizens of their budget choices. In this context, the old politics no longer works. The policy thinking that the services and infrastructure are only substantial economic investment in crisis. Precisely because large investments and substantial economic flows will be drastically reduced.

What changes then in the “new politics”?

Directors should work more with the priorities, choosing what to sacrifice and will intervene with the ideas and initiatives at lower cost than with the use of large economic flows. On the other hand is not difficult to make a good impression when you invest heavily on public works. It ’s harder to find low-cost ideas that affect the livability of communities and services. And ‘That is what the new politicians and administrators must confront. The new policy is this resilience, the ability to collect economic downsizing, tuning, restructuring, without undermining the purpose of a public institution, acting on a careful and innovative use of expenditure, which is the real and highest function of policy administration.

Are aware of our future administrators resilience awaits them in the halls of the Municipality of Gela in the near future?
